Research Location

The Rothschild’s Giraffe Project is based in Kenya which is home to around 80% of the remaining wild Rothschild’s giraffe.

The Project is based at Soysambu Conservancy, near Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley.

Study Area

The Project operates accross two study sites:

Soysambu Conservancy (SC) - a 195km² estate located in Kenya (00°46'S 036°23'E) in the Great Rift Valley with Ramsar Sites Lake Elmenteita to the east and Lake Nakuru to the west.

Lake Nakuru National Park (LNNP) - a 188km² National Park created in 1961 and cotaining Lake Nakuru, part of the chain of lakes in Kenya's Rift Valley. LNNP lies to the south of Nakuru and borders SC to the east.
