Male giraffe display a unique ‘necking’ behaviour, usually used to establish dominance for access to females. This video is of young males practising their ‘necking’ skills – watch for one in particular who has developed a specialised tactic!

In May 2010 sadly a young giraffe (approx 4 weeks old) died of natural causes. The herd's behaviourfollowing this was very unusual, with several herd members repeatedly inspecting the carcass.
